How the math works

Start at the end and walk backward. Your quota divided by your average deal size is the number of deals you need. Divide that by your win rate to get the opportunities you need to work, then by the share of first meetings that become opportunities to get the meetings you need.

From there it splits by how you book meetings. For calls: meetings divided by the share of conversations that book one gives conversations, and conversations divided by your connect rate gives dials. For email: meetings divided by the share of replies that book one gives replies, and replies divided by your reply rate gives emails. Divide by your working days for a daily number.

Every step rounds up, because you cannot hold half a meeting. Starting from the commission you want instead? The calculator first turns it into sales by dividing by your commission rate.

Use your own rates

The rates on the page start at placeholder values so the math has something to show. They are not averages, and we do not publish benchmark rates, because they swing widely by industry, deal size, and list quality. Your CRM, your call software, or your manager can give you your real numbers. Even a rough count from the last month beats a guess.

Once your own rates are in, try moving one at a time. You will quickly see which one changes the daily number most. That is the skill worth working on first.

Why better emails beat more emails

Every rate in the chain divides the work. Raising your reply rate from 5% to 6% means about one sixth fewer emails for the same meetings. Sending more has limits, since Gmail and Yahoo watch how people respond to what you send. Writing emails people want to answer lowers the number without sending more.

The Free Sales Email Grader checks a draft against published sales research, and the Subject Line Tester checks the first thing people see.

Questions

How many calls do I need to make to hit my quota?

It depends on your deal size and your rates at each step. Enter your quota, average deal size, win rate, and call rates, and the calculator works backward to the dials you need each working day.

What is a connect rate?

The share of dials that reach a person for a real conversation. Voicemails, gatekeepers who end the call, and wrong numbers do not count.

What counts as an opportunity?

A deal you are actively working after a first meeting showed a real need, a budget, and someone who can say yes. Use whatever your team calls a qualified opportunity, and count the same way each time.

Where do the starting rates come from?

They are placeholders so the page shows a working example. They are not averages or benchmarks. Replace them with your own numbers from your CRM or your manager.

Should I plan by month, quarter, or year?

Use the period your quota is set for. A longer period smooths out lumpy weeks, but a daily number from a monthly plan is easier to act on. Adjust the working days to take out holidays and time off.

Do you store what I type?

No. The math runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us or stored. The numbers ride in the page address only so you can copy a link to your plan.
